South Basil Street Closing August 25th -The existing concrete retaining wall on the east side of Basil Street , north of Canal Street is scheduled to be replaced . The existing concrete wall is scheduled to be removed the week of August 25t...h. The new wall construction is scheduled to begin September 2nd and will last two weeks depending on the weather. South Basil Street will be closed to traffic from August 25th until the wall is complete. The Village of Baltimore has worked with us to assure that we have alternate routes of response for emergencies that might occur south of this construction.

Welcome to the Website of the Basil Joint Fire District


The Basil Joint Fire District is located in Fairfield County,  Ohio.  The Basil Joint Fire District was formed to protect both Liberty Township and the Village of Baltimore. The area is mostly rural and residential.  We protect over 48 square miles.

The Fire District is staffed currently with full time, part-time and volunteer personnel. Each station is staffed with a 3 man Paramedic crew 24/7/365.


The BJFD is regulated by a Fire Board.  The Fire Board has a Township Trustee, and Village council member, a member representing the Village, a member representing the Township, and a member-at-large (from the Township or Village), as well as a part-time Clerk.
